bittersweet /ˌbɪtəˈswiːt/ 1. involving feelings of happiness and sadness at the same time. *** [muslim girl x atheist boy] Being a Muslim who wears the hijab, Daneen Mohsin wants nothing more than to have a normal last year of high school in a new area. Following her survival motto 'stay low, stay out of trouble', Daneen hopes to stay at the bottom of the attention radar without catching trouble. But after she publicly refuses to work with a boy who made fun of her, Daneen catches the attention of a certain someone. Joseph Kingston is the school's no. 1 heartthrob with looks that made people swoon all over him. His smooth voice, stunning smiles and charming personality forced everyone to overlook his troubled side and all the fights he managed to get into. He had his own way of sweeping people off their feet, be it literally or figuratively. Now throw in a revenge plan, an unknown person, a collection of letters, unexpected feelings, unfulfilled promises, a boy with ties to Daneen's past, Joseph's unspoken secrets and you will get: some bittersweet memories to keep forever. ※The East Girl - Part One※ "Screw humanity. Screw them who said that they would help me. It was all a lie. No one helped me when I was literally begging myself with my eyes for them to help me when they were grabbing me like I was some kind of trash. Like they didn't know that I was human. Guess what, they were the ones who weren't humans if they let it happened. Ignorant was a foolest beach." I don't know that me being moved to New York can give me much more than I expected. Bad or good, you choose. Is it because I wear a scarf around my head? I'm not saying that I don't know any of the grudges they have at me. I am wearing a scarf around my head, wearing a long dress that cover my whole body. What do you expect? So, I'm fully aware of it. But, I'm definitely not aware of how harsh it can be, how low it can crush my self-esteem as well as my self-confidence and how bitter it will taste in my heart. Fortunately, by moving to New York I also find my knight in shining bomber. That's how he start to show his affection for Loving The East Girl. #252 in Short Story on Monday, 2 Oct, '17. #305 in Short Story on Tuesday, 3 Oct, '17.
