Ethana, or Ethan, lives a modest life. Except it's anything but ordinary. You see, Ethan has an uncanny, and extremely rare, ability to see just what type of creature a person is. Human, witch, vampire--you name it, Ethan can see it. All is well until Ethan saves her vampire best friend from an oncoming car, paralyzing Ethan. But her friend has royal connections. In return for Ethan's services using her ability, the family of vampires will turn her, healing her. So off Ethan goes to England. But not everything is as it seems behind gilded doors. Tension is rising, thanks to Ethan's new spotlight. Someone is out to use Ethan as their personal weapon to gain power amongst the nobility. Will Ethan survive? Or will the weight of the Crown crush her?
