Mature
Bennett Decker used to have what most people would consider a cushy life. He had grown up in a happy, well rounded family; that is until his mom left them for some guy in California and his dad became a raging drunk. Eventually, Bennett had enough and moved in with his Uncle Jack and started to work on his ranch in Colorado. But when tragedy strikes his family once again, Ben has to figure out how to navigate the world again.

Then Eveline Porter comes to town. She is dealing with her own tragedy and has to completely reinvent her life. Evie is learning that trauma doesn't just go away when the cause of it disappears. Even though she knew that it wouldn't be easy to outrun her past, she had no idea that it would be this hard to learn to cope with what had happened to her.

Together, Ben and Eveline try to figure out what it means to move on and heal from tragedy, loss, and trauma. Can trauma and grief truly fade away? Or with both of them be haunted by their separate pasts until the point of no return?
