Kaia hated when people said it, but it was true: she had a perfect life. A complete, loving family with understanding parents that never pushed her to be anything she didn't want to be. A circle of friends that considered her for every party and cookout. A future, all mapped out and planned. But for her, the most perfect of things was her sister, Laini. They built dreams of moving away together and exploring every corner of the world, experiencing new things every day. It was all set to happen one day, when they'd both graduated college and could be free.
But then the ocean decided to take Laini and with her, all of Kaia's hopes and dreams were crushed to dust.
Now, moving to Hawaii with her grief consumed parents and her own broken heart, she can't think of a single reason to make herself walk forward in a new home, let alone without Laini.
