Ink finds one of Nightmares apples, he takes it to Sci's lab for experiments. After many tests on the apple, Ink and Sci have a theory.  They think that they have found a way to bring Nightmare back to his normal state.  But to do so, they need to test it out.   For them to do so, they decided to inject the black apple extract into someone. However, no one wants to volunteer, but they can always just... Force someone to test it... So Ink finds his good gLiTcHy friend to help...

The more negativity is around him the stronger he is, the more positivity there is around him the weaker he is. If he feels negative emotions from a specific person he can easily find who he is looking for. Same as Dream but dream follows the positive feelings.

The both of them create a close bond, and Nightmare explains how the villagers mistreats him and how they treasure Dream. Ink knew Dream for awhile, but Dream never mentions Nightmare.
