***** "TAXI," boomed a loud voice at last, as the dejected eighteen year old boy stood on the footpath in heavy rains with an umbrella in one hand and heavy law books and commentaries in the other. The boy turned around to thank the owner of the strong booming voice but much to his dismay, he found himself alone in the vicinity; alone except for a few stray dogs who seemed to have calmed down after their continuous barking and crying for ten minutes about the same time he stepped on the footpath to look for a cab. The screech sound caused by the rough fancy looking tyres of the kaali peeli (taxi) pulled him out of his reverie as he looked at the driver's questioning glance. The boy quickly opened the door and sat in the back seat not even sparing a look to his right. "Take me to the Library," the boy told the driver. The driver sent a confusing look in his direction which the slim built boy ignored. The driver pulled the taxi back in the main road but was going in the opposite direction of the Library. At the same time, the stranger to his right decided to clear his throat announcing his presence to the boy oblivious of his surroundings. The boy jumped at the sound quite startled at the presence of another person in his cab. He looked to his right and found a dusky middle-aged man sitting beside him. He was clothed in white creased shirt which was tucked out of his black trouser from one side, a black leather briefcase on his lap and a blazer slung over his shoulder. A look at him would be enough to conclude that he was a worn out lawyer. ***** #18 in breaksterotypes #36 in legal Can any good stories start with the protagonist looking for a taxi? Prologue "Run, Zara." The words echoed in her head, but her legs wouldn't move. She should run. She should fight. But the weight of his gaze pinned her in place, stealing the air from her lungs. Rayyan Syed stood a few steps away, his dark eyes holding a dangerous promise. His suit was perfect, his posture relaxed, but there was nothing calm about the way he was looking at her. Like she was already his. "You think you have a choice?" His voice was smooth, slow, wrapping around her like a velvet trap. He took a step closer, the air between them growing thick. Zara's heart pounded. "I am not yours," she whispered, forcing the words out. Rayyan smirked. "Then why do you sound like you're trying to convince yourself?" Her breath caught. Before she could react, he closed the distance-one hand gripping her waist, the other tilting her chin up, forcing her to meet his gaze. His next words sent a shiver down her spine. "Sweetheart, you've been mine from the very start. And there's nothing you can do about it."
