I swallowed my growl back, as she came to stand next to me admiring my mate. I tensed with her proximity. She was a good 12 feet away but I still felt threatened. I I cleared my throat to keep from growling and strained myself. Believe me when I say the thought of harming my own mother crossed my mind.
"Mom, Could you back up?" I asked my voice strained, she smiled at me before nodding and backing up a few feet, I walked back to meet her convincing myself and my wolf that it was only a few feet away from our mate and that I could still keep her in my sight.
"Is she the one?" my mother asked after a while.
"Yes"
"she's human" she stated.
"She is"
"You're going to have to be careful"
"she's so small" I said in astonishment.
"Yes son, and you aren't an ordinary human male, you're a Lycan and one of the most powerful alphas in the world" she reminded me.
"She's beautiful" I answered admiring every feature, and memorizing every inch of flawless skin I could get my eyes on.
"You're going to have to change your ways for her"

I listened to the soft pad of her footsteps retreating down the hall, I relaxed a small amount at each one even though she was my mother and I knew she wasn't going to harm her. it wasn't so much as I was afraid of her harming her it was more of I don't like sharing what's mine with anyone including the woman who gave birth to me.

(This is a very old book. It was the first one I ever really attempted to finish and it took me years and there was a lot of stuff happening behind the scenes. Many people helped me write it at the time and I respect all of you even tho we were all young and quite frankly at times didn't know what we were doing.
