Sisters Maria and Beth live in the town of Runesia, one of many towns under the tyrannical rule of the Mavericks, a ruthless militaristic force who came to power after the royal line was killed off. Life is hell, living in constant fear of the Mavericks who beat and kill people as they please.

When Beth is taken by the Mavericks in one of their raids, wild-hearted Maria seeks to escape the prison of her hometown and get her back by any means.
