On the day of hearts, a fourteen-year-old Varian looks forwards to his first dance, unfortunately, as the day goes on he realizes that everybody is too afraid to dance with him. Afterward Quirin and Cassandra try to comfort him. A one-shot that can also be taken as a prequel to Birthday Kisses, the idea was suggested by Rosette on AO3. Varian has a crush on Cassandra - Cassandra just sees him as a friend.
