The word 'insane' has been associated with 17 - year- old Chrisette almost as long as she can remember. Ever since the death of her parents, she's depended on the voice in her head to to serve as her guardian. After all Matrem, as she calls the voice, has always been the only constant in her life, she'd even explained the meaning of Chrisette's unusual birthmark when no one else could. Chrisette always knew she wasn't crazy, and when Matrem offers her the opportunity to live in peace amongst others like herself, (one of whom happens to be her bestfriend, Isis) she cant help but agree to travel to Sanctuarium.
