The sky, if that's what it could still be called, looked like torn paper-veins of sickly purple bleeding into black. Mira blinked. The world around her shifted, unfocused, like an old photograph dissolving in water. She had no idea how she ended up here or where "here" even was. She felt as though she had been dropped into a nightmare she couldn't wake from, where time crawled like a wounded animal.
Her reflection in the cracked glass before her didn't feel right. The face was hers, but not hers. The eyes looked haunted, like something had gnawed at her soul and left only fragments behind. And as the world around her crumbled, so did she.
