For a moment, I froze. My breath hitched as his words hung in the air between us, soft yet powerful enough to make my heart stumble.
I looked at him, utterly bewildered. He just stood there - calm, smiling, as if he hadn't just turned my entire world upside down.
"Wh-what!?" I stammered, my voice barely escaping my lips. Even after everything - after knowing every scar, every flaw, every reason he shouldn't - he still said those words.
Before I could gather my thoughts, he stepped closer. The warmth of his breath brushed against my ear as he whispered, each word sinking into my skin, "I said... I love you."
