As Kavanei escaped the scientists clutch she wanted to help young and old ghouls like her that didn't have a place to call home. She had bought a mannor that she resided with 200 other ghouls. This was before she met Touka who brought her to the 24th ward. Kavanei ran the mannor and became part of the 24th ward.
