"Don't come any closer," I whimpered weakly as my legs slowly eased backwards in retreat. "I swear to God, I will scream." I tried to sound confident, but my voice was wavering and shaking under the current circumstances.

Noah's eyes brightened and his mouth carved upwards in a smirk, "Go ahead Jess, nobody is around to hear you." He taunted, causing my legs to shake even harder at his strong words. They sent a shiver down my spine and a rocket of ice through my veins.

I continued backing up, now shaking my head frantically at his vicious statement. "No..." I muttered weakly, my eyes darting around the room as my butt bumped into the wall and I let out a small squeak from my parted lips, causing his smirk to grow.

"You will be mine, forever." His large frame advanced upon me.

"Well, well, well, if it isn't my favorite hero," the villain taunted, their voice dripping with mischief. "Always so serious. You know, seriousness doesn't look good on you. How about a little fun?" Suppressing the urge to react, I squared my shoulders and met their gaze with steely resolve. "Fun? You call destroying lives and spreading chaos 'fun'?" I shot back, refusing to be swayed by their honeyed words. But the villain persisted, closing the distance between us with a predatory grace. "Oh, come on now, don't pretend you don't feel the sparks between us," they purred, their eyes alight with an unsettling allure. "You and I, we could make quite the dynamic duo." I clenched my fists, the urge to strike rising within me. But I held back, reminding myself of the principles that guided my every action. "The only thing sparking between us is the clash of our ideals," I retorted, my voice firm. "I fight for justice, not for whatever twisted game you're playing." The villain's laughter echoed through the desolate alleyway, bouncing off the decaying walls. "Ah, but justice is such a dull concept, don't you think?" they sneered, circling me with a predatory grace. "How about we spice things up a bit?" I stood my ground, unwavering in my conviction. "I'll never stoop to your level," I declared, my tone unwavering. "My duty is to protect the innocent and uphold the law." But the villain was relentless, their words like poison seeping into my mind. "Duty, duty, duty," they mocked, their voice dripping with disdain. "You heroes are all the same. But deep down, you know there's a part of you that yearns for something more... exhilarating."

NOTE: This is only a preview of my novel His Wife which is sold on Amazon in all formats. The link to the full novel and my other novels is in my bio. For years, Evangeline has been married to Joseph Vanderbilt who has always been the perfect depiction of a husband while she was his wonderful obedient wife who would give in to his control. Out in public, he'd always go around with a smile on his face and a loving arm around Evangeline. But behind closed doors, no one really knew how impossible it was for Evangeline to be his wife, not even Evangeline until it was too late. She didn't realize it was too late until she saw the dead body in her husband's trunk, and he confessed that his real name was Eugene. After that, Evangeline has been fighting for her survival every day while also trying to escape him. However, he's made it almost impossible by tying her to the bed every night and constantly keeping her by his side. He confessed that all the precautions were because he loved her and wanted to keep her in his life, but the more she tried to escape, the more he began to show his true colors and start abusing her. He'd tie her up for hours or beat her as he pleased and would even bring his family members into it. After a while, Evangeline realized that time was very limited when she discovered a secret cellar and a secret even darker inside it below their cozy home. After she discovered the hidden room, Eugene would start locking her in it for days at a time with the possibility of never letting her out again. It only gets worse when he and his cousin make threats to mutilate her if she ever tries to escape again, which only gives her one last chance to get out while she can and get it right.

"Shh, shh, now baby-girl, it's alright, you're safe, don't cry" he soothed, moving closer to me. "N-Noah, I w-want to go home," I sobbed, feeling weak from my inability to talk without stuttering. A gasp left my parted lips as his hand forcefully connected with my cheek, "You are home, so I don't want to hear that crap from you, okay?" shaking, I looked down at my feet, his gaze too menacing to hold. "I said, do you understand" he spit through clenched teeth, "y-yes, I'm sorry" I whispered, a new wave of tears making their appearance. "Good girl, now I need you to keep being a good girl, okay?" nodding, my eyes met his dark ones. His form towered over me, making me feel small and irrelevant. "Words, Embry!" He demanded as I stuttered out a quiet yes. I studied him cautiously as he walked towards the far end of the room, shuffling through drawers before stalking back towards me and crouching down. I sucked in a breath as I saw the knife in his hand, his face held a mischievous grin as it glinted in the light. "Now baby-girl, you see, as much as I hate to, you need to be punished, do you know why?" Warning! This story is for mature audience, it contains strong language, abuse, mature themes and sensitive topics. Please enjoy, -Aphrodite.

"Let me go, you sick, twisted, bastard!" I seethed through gritted teeth. I felt an uncontrollable amount of fear rake over my body. I soon began to shake. "Now let me out of this fucking car before I rip your balls off and shove them down your thr-" Before I could even finish my sentence the car swerved to the side of the road and came to a sudden stop, immediately sending me flying into the dash. My forehead collided with the roughness of the dash. I slowly pulled away and tried to sit back up, a small groan escaped my mouth as I rubbed my now bleeding forehead. I heard him rustling around, but couldn't see much due to the black spots in my vision. I heard the sound of something popping open and the sound of liquid being poured. I rubbed my head painfully and blinked several times. "Tell me kitten," I heard him say slyly. "Does this smell like chloroform?" He chuckled.
