I have always lived my life as if I were an adult, raising my younger sister more than my mother did. The abuse my sister and I dealt with our entire lives ran our world, until one day our mother brought home a new man... and he did something unforgettable. Now that we have the chance we'vd been waiting for, we can see that all the lost battles were worth winning the war. Now we just have to make the right moves to do so. This story is happening now, this is my present, and I want to share my journey with those who will join me in my fight. Your support is much appreciated, and this story, my story, is dedicated to the #metoo movement and all the victims out there who havent found the strength to speak up yet. If you know someone who is or has been a vitim of sexual assault and their case hasnt been brought to the authorities yet, tell someone. It's the right thing to do no matter what, bring those who have wronged your loved one to justice.

There are a lot of things you don't really think about until they happen to you. Take rape, for instance. I always thought, "That won't happen to me. I have a boyfriend. I trust him. He would never take advantage of me like that..." I couldn't have been more wrong. Love in this day and age is often confused for manipulation and abuse. The warning signs are here.
