In the wake of the Atavian invasion that tore through the empire of Akh-Seba, a group of prisoners escape their Atavian captors and spark the beginnings of a great rebellion. Calling themselves the Medjay after the fallen army of their empress, they work to claim back their empire piece by piece. When he was young, Tali aided the escape of the first Medjay. But when a series of catastrophes resulted in the death of the Kai, leader of the Medjay, and the near death of Tali's best friend and secretly held crush Atemu, he ran from their fortress in self-exile. Eight years have passed since then, and Tali hears rumours that assassins have a target on Atemu's head. Seeking to save his friend and the new Kai, he infiltrates the assassins, intent to take them out from within the Medjay fortress. And so he returns, prepared to die one way or another, but finds the reunion with Atemu to be both happier and more painful than he anticipated. Now he must face his past actions and the guilt that has been crawling under his skin for eight years, while learning what it is to forgive himself and accept he is worthy of the love he both feels, and is given.

I was made to serve him. I was made to heed his every beck and call. I was dutiful, obedient, proud of my servitude regardless of what the others thought of me. He was powerful, and he made me powerful, too. It was honorable to be his right hand, to be able to execute his orders to perfection. I thought I had done well in this position. Had anyone asked I would have sworn I exceeded all expectations and fulfilled every request without hesitation or error. I had become an expert in anticipation, of knowing my Master better than I knew myself. So why did he give me away? How could he cast me aside so easily? Was I really so replaceable, so meaningless? He had made me for himself, hadn't he? What other purpose could I possibly have? How was I meant to serve him by serving someone else? -This story has mature themes and depictions of violence, depression, panic attacks, gore, etc. Please read at your own discretion- Highest rankings thanks to all of you wonderful readers! : #2 in "Servitude" #3 in "Servant" #22 in "ManxMan"
