Earth is Dead, over population, no food, animal life reduced to just what you see in TV and in Zoo's are all that's left of Nature. Grass has been replaced with fake turf, tree's long gone for their lumber was not able to be regrown at a rate that could match the demand. Places like Alaska were populated so thick you could not find a square foot to stand on let alone live on. Families were living in small 20' by 20' cubicles that were stacked on each other like cords of wood. The Governments only option was to move into space and find new planets to colonize. It was quick and spread rapidly killing humans within three days. Once the host was dead parasites started growing at an alarming rate eating there hosts. Only certain humans were Immune, and their blood could also kill these parasites that could grow up to 8 feet high.
