A scream issued from her lips. She'd barely dodged the flying luggage.

Clothes flew, shoes flung at her feet. The entirety of her wardrobe covered the mud painted interlocking of what was her driveway.

She screamed, she begged, she charged at the wench assisting mama and was blocked at every attempt. It was no use. Mama had come prepared. Mama had brought her entourage, fully intending to move her out of her matrimonial home with brute force.

She shook violently with the intensity of her emotions. How had her life come to this?

But when her mother-in-law came into the picture, her entire world was turned upside down. She questioned whether she knew this man at all. Had her husband truly buckled beneath societal pressures and done the unspeakable.

She cried out of pain but that only seemed to impress him. He smirked and said, "Mm, so fiesty?" He glared at her and pushed her against the wall. "You are evil Abdullah!" She almost shouted. She was supposed to live a happy life with her so-called husband, but instead, he is bullying her. "Just tell me, why?" She gazed at him confused wondering what he meant by that. "Why what?" She cried "Heh" he chuckled, "don't play dumb with me Kulthum. Just tell me why you chose him over me? What am I lacking? Huh? Tell me!" He shouted pushing her more against the wall. "Because you are evil! I never loved you in the first place, you are nothing worth loving" she spat as tears flowed down her beautiful face. "If I can hate you, why can't you, Abdullah?! Since the day she got married to him, there had never been a day where she laughed for at least two minutes. "You know," she began, "I appreciate your help. It's nice to have made a friend who can give us a ride to the city. I don't usually have well-off friends." Dr. Femi, his eyes briefly meeting hers, decided it was time to reveal his true feelings. He wore a small, mischievous smile as he responded, "Well, Pendo, what makes you think I want to be friends with you? I didn't offer you a ride because I want to be just friends." Pendo's heart skipped a beat as she looked at him, a mixture of surprise and curiosity in her eyes. "Oh?" she replied, her voice tinged with both excitement and caution. "And what do you want, Dr. Femi?" Dr. Femi turned his gaze back to the road ahead, his expression serious yet sincere. "I want to be your man Pendo," he admitted, his voice soft and filled with longing. "I want to make you mine."
