Monokuma was getting frustrated at the participants for not murdering one another. The bear decides to create a motive to encourage the students to commit a murder. Each student would have to relive past memories during each night until a murder occurs. Not the memories that make you smile when you reminisce. The ones that can break a person. The students being so young, have not experienced anything traumatizing. Many of the students think nothing of it.
