Tinder and Other Tales
In 2018, I put together a simple draw to challenge myself (and anyone else who wanted to try) with flash fiction prompts made up of three suits of cards, shuffled and drawn. The clubs denoted a genre, the diamonds were an object, and the hearts were a setting. Starting with January (A fairy tale, a tattoo machine, and a prison) and drawing once a month thereafter, over the course of a week with no more than 1,000 words, the idea was to write a flash fiction piece using those prompts. It let me stretch writerly muscles a bit (especially into genres where I don't often wander). Here are all twelve stories that came out of the Flash Fiction Draw Challenge.Complete

! PART ONE - COMPLETE ! ! PART TWO - IN PROGRESS ! _SPOILERS AHEAD _ _ The story takes place right after the end of chapter nine of Duskwood. It's following the same main story line with changes along the way. Some texts messages are changed, some are the same. _ If my life was going to come to an end right now, it would taste bitter. But how much control can you have over that ? Going into this mine was the best way to keep the others safe, it was the best way to achieve what we were supposed to achieve since day one. The Tales and Tellings of Hallows' Grove (MM)
Henry Everwood has lived in Hallows' Grove his entire life amongst superstitious townspeople. Despite his patient denial of the rumours circulating his practices, Henry is indeed the witch people fear him to be, though he hardly uses his magic for anything more than his cooking and housecleaning. Come October, Henry forbids the usually wandering ghosts from entering his home. One, however, makes it through his warding without knowing how or why he did it. Edward appears in Henry's house with no memory of his living life, his family, or his last name. Henry prepares to send him back to the howlite path, a trail of magic stones that leads ghosts to their afterlife, when a terrible memory resurfaces-Edward had been murdered. Not only that, but Henry and Edward quickly discover that Edward is alive only when he's touching Henry. With unanswered questions from both ends, Henry accepts to help Edward look into his murder, why the connection between them is so strong, and reveal whether or not the new blonde woman in town and her brother know more about magic than they're letting on. But what happens when Henry and Edward start to fall for each other? What happens when Henry's long-kept family secret is uncovered? It is, after all, as Mr. Cross, the cranky old town librarian, had warned-terrible things happen when you involve an Everwood.Complete

I saw these great prompts in @LuckyBugBooks 's Flumptober book, so I've decided to try my hand at the challenge! I'm a little nervous, cuz this is my first time doing something like this, but I'm mostly excited because this sounds like a lot of fun!
