Jade Lockwood is a good girl. Or at least she used to be. Sweet, nerdy, chubby, and crushing on Blake Andrews, the hot star football of her school who is completely out of her league.
A series of unfortunate events changes all that. Being used and humiliated by her crush was certainly not in the books. And getting attacked by a creepy hooded figure was definitely not something that happened to wallflower Jade.
The near-death experience spurs Jade into spending her summer learning to fight, and she begins junior year with a certain fire, determined to protect her loved ones and herself.
But something strange is going on in Havendale, and when the people around her begin to get hurt, it's up to Jade to use her brains and newfound strength to put a stop to it. And along the way, maybe she'll learn what real love truly is.
