Mates Mine

Alex first meets his first mate, Keston, while working as a bartender. Keston is a new hire and very skittish as if he's expecting something bad to happen. The two avoid each other like the plague until Keston works up the courage one night after their shifts both end and goes up to Alex to speak with him. It's tense small talk at first but over the course of a week, the two grow close and the tension eases, both blame it on the mate bond between them. Keston moves in with Alex after an altercation with Keston's horrible mother to protect him. The two go to the library to grab a book Alex found interesting, Keston tagging along as to not be alone. The two meet a male librarian named Logan. Logan's a very closed off person who doesn't trust others easily and gives the two the cold shoulder for a while though the two are persistent in talking to him. Over time, the two manage to break done his wall even if only slightly. The two get him to open up and this brings the three closer than ever. The closed-off male becomes protective over the two youngers and refuses to let harm come to them if he can stop it. Unfortunately, their last mate they'd rather it not be. A ruthless leader who is more than happy to break them both physically and emotionally all for power over them.
