She looks up at me, taking a step forward and smiling slightly, "How can I ever get hurt when I have you here to protect me?" "But you could have gotten hurt," I murmur softly, hanging my head and feeling my shoulders drop, the tension seeping from my body. "No. Stop," She cuts me off sternly but tenderly, "Don't talk like that, Reece. I'm okay, you're okay, we're okay," She speaks softly, reaching her hand up to gently brush her thumb over my cheek, just under the cut that's there. "We're okay," I repeat, taking a small step closer to her. She nods with a small smile, moving her hand down from my cheek and instead placing the palm of her hand on my chest, right over my heart. I know she can feel how fast my heart is beating. I just don't know why it's doing that. ~ Reece Carter is the bad boy of Northwood High. He smokes and he fights. Morgan Adams never expected to start her senior year in a new state. Her plans for an amazing year with her friends were pulled right out from under her following a life changing decision her dad made; one that got himself and others killed. The repercussions of his actions affected not only her, but everyone she grew up with. When things take a turn for the worst her mom feels it's time for them to leave it all behind and start over. The two travel halfway across the country for a new beginning. Morgan never had issues making friends and here in her new home of Sunrise Lake she finds a place to fit in. She even raises the attention of two of the most popular guys in school; Levi Harmon and Ethan Marley. So far Morgan has won the hearts of most of the people around her except for Angela Holiday, who does not like the attention Morgan is getting from Levi and Ethan. As her past starts catching up with her and Angela begins digging, Morgan worries that she's going to lose all the friendships she's started building in Sunrise lake. Can one girl and Morgan's past shatter everything she's worked so hard to forget? Or will her new friends from Sunrise Lake accept her for who she is without faulting her for her father's actions.
