Scarlett Rose is a princess forgotten by the world. Hidden and abused by her parents, she is finally bartered away in a political marriage to a prince she has never met. Taking her away from her miserable home, Prince Julian Thorn wins, if not her love, then at least her friendship. It's his sister Athena with whom Scarlett really hits it off and the two become fast friends
That is, until The Competition is announced. A 'sport' that will prepare one of the Chosen candidates to become a king or queen, and cull the rest. As the newly engaged princess to one of the most powerful kings, Scarlett is almost certain to be one of the Chosen.
