In a world where mankind is not the dominant species and giant creatures that look at mankind in the same way you would look at a rat, vermin. Except these cruel monsters take pleasure in making sport of people when they find them. For too long mankind has been scarce and scattered abroad, and too long have they lived in this oppression. I wasn't special, I wasn't a marine or a scientist sent here from earth to study Pandora, I was a behaviorist-some say behaviorists are scientists too; but the brain isn't made up of mathematics and hope, it's like the roots of trees. They feel entitled to repay her for everything she's done for them, so when they both get visited by Tournament one night Felichs' world is flipped upside down. Now Tournouá Tou Ménos intrigues them. With the winner receiving Ménos, as flower said to give someone eternal happiness, is the perfect way to repay their mother before she passes away. A final moment of happiness is what Felichs seeks, but so do many others that plan to stand in their way. Will Felichs be able to attain Ménos? What will come of Emovere? What is Tournament's true intentions with Tournouá Tou Ménos? AND WHAT HAPPENED TO BERT!

These trips are done by the best warriors and hunters, but encounters with the beasts are inevitable, and lives are still regularly lost to their curse. When Umi's beloved husband Shani is grabbed by the Soulbiters, he is prepared to do anything to save him from the gruesome fate that awaits if he is bitten. Anything at all. Even strike a horrible bargain with the beasts.
