Will Walker is a promising and caring yet frustrated young man. He is struggling to find his own identity and be his own person. The selfish and dysfunctional people in his life are keeping him from his dreams. Will longs to be the man Rebecca will take notice of. He wants to finally start his own freelance business and quit his awful job. He wants to rid his life of the emotional residue from his dysfunctional upbringing. He wants to stop having to deal with the frustrating people in his life. Michael his boss is unbearable. Hunter his sometimes friend is disloyal. And his co-workers' incompetence adds to his anxiety. His only reprieve seems to be Louis and Mary. Louis, a retiree and deli counter worker, tries to be a compass for Will. Louis seems to have all the answers even if he never followed the same advice himself. He does his best to coach Will through the successes and failures of a young life. Mary is a damaged woman who is stuck in a nursing hospice. She is trying to recover from a lifetime of bad decisions. She tries to be a guiding light for Will, too, but she has an ulterior motive. Mary needs Will to tell the staff she's getting better, even though she's not. Will is trying hard to chart a better future for himself. But, unfortunately, some things are easier said than done. His life and his past keep getting in the way.
