"You didn't tell me anything!" Olive yelled, her screams bouncing off the walls.
Cace shook his head. "I didn't want you to be afraid."
She sighed and rubbed her damp forehead softly. "You just-should've said something before it was too late."

Cace has lived all his life abused. His father beat only Cace. Not his wife or Cace's younger sister Violet. Cace thought that as long as no one else got hurt, everything would be fine.
Olivia has a normal high school life as far as she can tell. She's dating her perfect match, or so everyone says. They're the most iconic couple in the school.
Then, Cace comes to the school, freshmen year. Olive and Cace seem to hit it off instantly, but Olive knows they're just friends. They have to be.
Then, Daniel makes a sudden disappearance, and no one knows why. His mom won't say squat to the school, and his brother couldn't care less. Cace comforts Olive, the pair only getting closer and closer. When Daniel returns, everything goes wrong. Daniel learns of Cace and Olive's friendship, and he grows incredibly jealous.
