After becoming a demon, Tanjiro rests in a coma before awakening to a hospital room. Due to his now demonic nature and hazy memories, he barely remembers those closest to him. Although not being able to speak well is a struggle in Tanjiro's new way of life, he makes do of what he has. Someday he'll return to being a human again, and he might even find love along the way.

Rengoku is sent out on a mission to take down a demon north of the demon slayers corps building. The Master tells Rengoku to take Tanjiro with him, for this demon has a really faint smell. Tanjiro agrees to go on the Journey, but struggles to leave his sister behind, due to the Masters orders. Tanjiro learns more about the Flame Hashira on the Journey, and his feelings of admiration grow into something more.... meanwhile Rengoku focuses more on their mission, But soon, Tanjiro's survival becomes more important to Rengoku than the Mission, and soon, something goes on between them, something that changes their relationship forever.
