When Peeta returns home Katniss realizes that for both herself and Peeta she needs to work on recovering and look towards the future rather than the past. As they help each other mourn their losses and recover lost memories, they find that what they needed all along was each other. As the weeks, months, and eventually years go on they find that what they really need is each other.
