He was bullied by Katsuki Bakugou. Muzan wasn't interested in Tanjiro before, but once he heard that Tanjiro can give something no one else ever gave... It sparked something. "Affection...?" Muzan wanted to feel affection. Although he loves his daughter, he doesn't feel anything when he's around these two people.
