Margo Anne Hall is an 18-year-old American teenager growing up in a working-class neighborhood. Margo is not much of the religious type despite growing up Christian mainly because life has not been particularly kind to her. Her father, who made his own luck, was imprisoned when she was very young, leaving her with her mother, who was an addict. Eventually, Margo had to drop out of school to get a job to support herself leaving her to scrape for crumbs to support her and her mother. She wants a better life but has come to terms that it is just not in the cards for her, not this lifetime anyway.
