"I'm getting there," I reply smiling, but drop it as soon as I see his sad expression, "I'm sorry, I-I didn't-..."

"Don't worry about it. I'm happy if you are," he stops me, waving his hand in front of him.

I nod slowly and reach for the door handle, "I'll see you, yeah? Stay safe."

"You too," he replies, giving me a tight smile.

I smile back and walk out of the door, letting out a shaky breath.

"I love you," I hear him say before I close the door behind me.
