What if Kylo Ren had been right?
What if Rey had taken Kylo Ren's hand when he offered it the second time, deciding her best chance at defeating Palpatine and saving the galaxy was with him?
But can the two of them overcome their differences and mistrust of each other to accomplish that task or will pride win out?
And then there is a certain group of meddling Force Ghosts determined to test them to their fullest.
Meanwhile, Finn has a destiny of his own to fulfill chasing visions of his past across the galaxy. Poe buries himself in work as he tries to forget his failures and forge ahead. Leia attempts to cement her legacy and ensure the future of the galaxy.
This fanfic explores a different ending to TROS starting at about the halfway point, when Kylo reveals the truth about Rey in the hangar. It will focus mainly on their story but there will be significant plot arcs that focus on Finn, Poe, Leia, and others.
There will be a few augmentations to the earlier story, but I have tried to stay true to the plot up until this point, except for the 16 hr deadline Palpatine gave them. His threat was open ended in my version.
This will contain mature and graphic content.

I'm starting to move away from canon compliance and adopting some items from the EU but with a heavy dose of artistic license.
Early chapters are ~1000 words, later are over 3000.

Based on Star Wars ep. VII: The Force Awakens. "You... you're afraid." I say looking back at him defyingly. "That you'll never be as strong as Darth Vader." I say his hand moving away from me instantly and he takes a step back finally my body gets released from his hold. I notice the expression from his face breaking completely, he is confused even rattled. I breathe heavily and keep staring back at him proud of myself as he picks up his mask and exits the room leaving me tied up to the interrogation chair. How was I able to do all of that? ------ This book is part 1 of my rewrite series. I figured that if If I wanted to rewrite TLJ and TROS the only correct way would be by also doing TFA so here is that. Also, this book is going to be very similar to the movie to a point where it is almost identical but since it's written with different points of views we get to know more about the characters and where they come from. It is very canon compliant especially when talking about the different character backstories. That being said, this doesn't mean that the next two books are going to be the exact same as the movies I want to take the other books in a completely different way. Star Wars Post-TLJ Short Stories
This story will actually be made up of several short stories that take place after my re-writing of Star Wars The Last Jedi and will show what characters have been up to in since then. It will take place over a 4 year time span but not in an kind of order, for example chapter one might take place in 37ABY, and chapter two might only be in 34ABY. These stories will follow Rey, Kylo, Finn, Poe, Suu, Gwren, Tiffony, Hux, and Rose on there different adventures and personal growth since my story ends. "We've passed on all we know. A thousand generations live in you now, but this is your fight." A familiar voice, Luke's, whispers. Luke Skywalker stands net to R2-D2 the sky around him burns shades of orange, yellow and red and behind him a Jedi temple burns. Kylo feels his father's hand upon his face the watched as his father falls into the abyss. "Your journey nears its end." A sinister voice now whispers, and a flash of blue light reveals a fleet of Imperial Star Destroyers filling the vastness of space as blue fire leaps between them. A powerful red laser of an unseen weapon obliterates the surface of a planet. Shrieks, whispers and screams and then the sound of a lightsaber igniting. A fiery red saber but behind that saber is Rey, her hand twitches and the saber becomes a double-pronged staff. A maniacal evil laugh cackles. Kylo woke with a start and sat upright on his bed. Written after the first trailer dropped and finished before the film was released. Contains references to previous films, novelisations and comics. Rey, an abandoned nobody, fought side by side with the powerful Kylo Ren. She saw a future in him, a redemption of Ben Solo. She believed it, and a part of her still does Kylo Ren, Ben Solo, the son of a Skywalker and the grandson of Darth Vader, turned to the dark side by the never calm conflict within him. He killed his own Supreme Leader for the scavenger girl, but now it seems the girl has no more faith in Ben Solo and he is lost. After the Battle of Crait, Rey shut the door on the new Supreme Leader Kylo Ren. Only days before, she was sure that she could bring back Ben Solo, but now, shes not so sure anymore. She's lost faith in him, she believes her vision was only a vision. But she just can't seem to forget the look in his eyes when he fought by her, when he killed his Supreme Leader, when he understood her after the dark cave consumed her. She can't seem to forget him.
