AZIP Code is a system of postal codes and is used within the United States. The system, which is being used by the United States Postal Service since 1963, results in the faster and effective delivery of mail within the country. While the basic ZIP Code comprises five digits, in 1983, an extended ZIP+4 code was introduced. In this system, along with the hyphen and four more digits are also used. These additional digits are useful in determining a specific location within that particular Zip Code.
