Earth was destroyed, ending the civilization as we know it, almost eradicating life on earth, almost. The creatures that survived struggled to adapt in the harsh landscape that the earth has become. Humans that once ruled the earth now decimated to living underground or in walled cities created by the ones who wish to restart civilization. But the world is now vastly different, far harsher than what it was.
