Sophie Foster thought she had found her happy ending when she and her friends defeated the Neverseen and she started dating Keefe Sencen. But the Neverseen is never truly gone. They let things quiet down to lure everyone into a false sense of security, waiting to strike at the perfect moment. And worst of all, Sophie's happy ending isn't so happy anymore. She starts regretting her decision to date Keefe. Things escalate when Sophie makes a rash decision to go to Fitz Vacker's winnowing gala. In amatter of minutes, her whole world is turned upside down.
Trust is broken.
Mistakes are made.
Powers are shown.
Battles leave destruction in their wake.
And it all could have been avoided if Sophie had made the right decision the first time.
