Before civilization, there were fierce creatures called Monsters that roamed the land. The Monsters eventually died out due to another creature or loss of food. Though the more powerful ones called The Elder Dragons had enough intelligence to go into a deep state of hibernation to survive. One Elder Dragon, Alatreon, The Blazing Black Dragon, felt that enough time had passed and roused from his sleep. He realizes how bad of a state the world is in due to the Originium and the incurable disease Oripathy. While his kind are known to be ruthless and brutal, he was special in that he would rather observe and be kind. Seeing the people struggling, he felt he should try to at least alleviate their struggles, if even a little.

Direct crosspost from Ao3 This is an INTENSELY self indulgent prequel for the events of Monster Hunter World following the life of the Commander. Fic takes place from the First Fleet setting out and covers things like the Celestial Pursuit ending up on a mountain, the Scoutflies, the Seeker peacing out, the Research Base crash landing, and some other stuff I'm forgetting, and ends right before the opening sequence of the game. So if you like Monster Hunter, and for some reason you're not here for the monster part (why are we here? Where is the appeal beyond big monster?), we're here together. But then when little Momo makes him promise if he will become a hero with her. even though he wishes to become became a Crime Hunter which is the name of a special unit of Terra especially to stop any threat on the galaxy and possible multiverse caused by Dark loid action. He promises her he will return and became a hero. And The Ruingante never break their promise So. 4 years after that, the 16 years old nergigante has returned to earth to fully his promise. And with a new dream to not just be a hero or hunter, but to become the first Crime Hunter who came from Earth heroic course.
