Voices of the Spirits

A spirit is defined as such: The non-physical part of a person which is the seat of emotions and character; the soul. If a spirit is capable of surviving after death, after it is separated from its body, why are people not eager to find them, to reunite with lost loved ones from the other side? The truth is that most people simply cannot do it since they are not capable of seeing them. Those who can, called shamans, rule over all spirits, human or not. Laylah Riley, a little girl trying to survive in London under Queen Victoria's reign, is one such being. Though she was beaten and broken, she still fights against all that opposes her: demons and angels, her elder sister, the harshness of the times, and her own mind.
