There's this girl. She never smiled. She never laughed. She had beautiful big, round eyes, but they were empty as can be. They held no spark nor warmth. They would stare into your own like they could see the deepest parts of your soul. She has never shown any emotion. She treated everything and everyone with indifference.
She was the talk of the town since she was a little girl. They say she's seen things nobody has ever seen before and it left her so scarred she became hollow, a shell of a person. Their stories always came with a warning: Stay away from the girl with the cold, dead eyes. She's no good for you. She will only bring you trouble, was what they would say.
But one day, I saw her smile. Even if it was close to a smirk, it was the first expression I've seen cross her face. It was engraved in my mind and I wanted to see more of that. I wanted to see her smile a full blown smile and I wanted to be the one to do that. I wanted to reach into the hole she dug herself in and wrench her out into the light. I wanted to save her.
