A blue Chevy truck swung out of control on the icy road, slamming into the side of our car. Mom shrieked and threw me out of an open window into a patch of soft grass and snow. I watched as the Subaru tumbled down the small hill and started smoking.

I woke up later in my aunt's arms. "Auntie Hannah, what's wrong?" I asked, noticing tears beading down her face. "They aren't-"
