Fleeting Feet Down the Street

One short yet high-speed bike chase down Alex's street changes the course of both his, and Abigail's lives.

"Oh, you baby, just eat a bite of cake!" she cackled hysterically, holding the spoonful of cheesecake up to his mouth. "It's your favorite anyways."

"I promise you, I am NOT hungry." He chuckled playfully, swatting the spoon away from his mouth.

"But.. It's YOUR birthday, you get the first bite of cake you fool." she let her eyes glaze over his entire existence fondly, through the depths of his soul.

"Fine MOM." he sighed, taking the spoon from her hand and letting the spoonful of strawberry cheesecake finally hit mouth. His stone cold expression changed to a pink-cheek, mouth-full smile.
She smiled, her relaxed eyes lovingly gazing at the boy who'd changed her life for the better.

And so that was it,
the moment the feeling of contentment they'd both been searching for this whole time
finally hit them.
