Fifteen year-old Isla Raj had always wanted to embark on a beautiful, exciting adventure, to, perhaps, an exotic country or a vast ocean. Little did she expect that, one day, the grandest adventure of her life would come to her.

A mysterious bookshelf appears in the young adult section of the library, a section that Isla is very familiar with. When she inquires at the front desk about the recent addition, the librarian assures her that the shelf has been there since the library's opening. Chagrin and quite convinced something mysterious is taking place, Isla can't resist checking out a few of the strange new books.
Later, as she and her closest friend, Robin, are inspecting the volumes, they make an astounding discovery that leaves them falling through a portal and landing in a fantasy land. Florinth is the realm out of every reader's wildest imagination, a beautiful kingdom that boasts wondrous sights and creatures. The more they explore, the more Isla and Robin find themselves in awe of this mysterious world they've stumbled upon.
However, the day the two had planned to return home, disaster strikes. They find themselves with no option other than to help save the kingdom from the most dangerous threat it's faced in, apparently, centuries. Otherwise, they may never see their beloved hometown again.

Occasional language, nothing too colorful. :)

Many are owned by CatFace Studios, NixHydra, Nintendo, etc. However, this is an original story with non-original characters thrown in for their individual purpose. I would not call this a fanfic, but if that is what you see it as, go ahead. I simply need familiar faces to tell a story close to my heart. Started writing in late 2017.

Coming from a long line of witches is bad enough, but she's even more different than the rest of her family. The fact that no one will give her any answers to why she's so different doesn't help matters. Her entire existence is shrouded in secrets that everyone around her refuses to reveal. After a family tragedy, she moves to a new town, and she gets her first chance to at least pretend to be 'normal.' For the first time, she's allowed to leave the house and go to an actual school. She makes friends, and she develops her first crush, that's quickly followed by her second. She's finally living the normal teenage life she'd dreamed of, but it doesn't last. Everything she believed about herself and the world around her is changed in an instant. Family secrets come to light one after another, turning her entire world upside down in the process. She quickly realizes that sometimes ignorance really is bliss, and maybe she didn't really want to know the answers to the questions she'd always asked, especially when one of these truths causes people close to her to turn their backs on her without hesitation. Before she can even recover from the shock, she's thrust into a war that she hadn't even known existed. Loyalties will be tested. She'll have to choose sides between all of the people she's come to care about. Will she stand with her family, her new friends, or the two boys who both hold a piece of her heart? One thing is for sure. She'll have to let go of her dream of 'normal.'

The Mystery at Trida Academy | Fantasmical 2023

13 parts Complete

Second place in the Fantasmical Story Competition. Alaina, a semi-reclusive elf with questionable fire magic, joins a mysterious stranger. Together, they must travel through twelve fantastical realms, defeating dangerous monsters in order to save her sister. Alaina grew up in the small village of Koh-i-noor with her parents and two sisters. Her oldest sister was the village beauty, and even though her family wasn't wealthy or connected, rumors of her elegance and grace traveled the countryside. She married a prince and moved to the capital. Then there's her younger sister, gifted in both earth and water magic; she's one of the most talented magic users in over a century. And Alaina? She's nothing like either of her sisters. She's got fire magic, but she's more likely to burn the house down than to light the hearth. But that doesn't bother Alaina - she's perfectly fine, even with unreliable magic. She lives in the small cottage her parents left her, along with her loyal, if somewhat yippy fox, Cinna, tending her garden and selling the sweetest strawberries that Koh-i-noor has ever seen. But when her sister sends a cryptic word that something's wrong at the Trida Academy, Alaina must abandon her solitary life to save her sister. Cover image by AndreasAux from Pixabay
