Due to the two recent strikes in New York, life has been pretty different. The Newsies had been granted everything they had wanted from the strike, including Sundays off work. To celebrate the start of the new century, Jack Kelly and the Newsies agreed to take on new kids. Starting out small however, the group took on their first set of girl Newsies. Jasmine Kelly, and Dottie Conlon. They girls were the sisters to Brooklyn and Manhattan Newsie leaders Jack and Spot, and both refused their brothers help when they were sentenced to three months in the refuge. The girls ended up being released early, and were reunited with their family members. Jass (Jasmine) and Dottie has been best friends since they could remember, so when Dottie made the desicion to live with the Manhattan Newsies, things took a turn.
