Chicago is gone and in its ashes stands Jason, a hybrid with supernatural abilities.  He never relied on anyone for more than a few months and has grown used to defending himself. 

Ness is alone, desperate to find someone she thought she lost long ago.  She hopes to find him in Philadelphia where the next projected raid is to be, in twelve days time.  

She and Jason team up to save the survivors of the Chicago and to warn the inhabitants of Philadelphia from the ruthless, Geovex, the alien race that terrorizes humanity.
