Fraed, the Underworld assassin, is tasked with retrieving the Phoenix's heir in return for the final level of Hell. He has a span of two months to concoct the most thrilling assassination, retrieve their body and return it to the ruler of Level Nine Hell, Guvinial.
Except that it isn't so easy.
Plunged right into the Countryside of Victorian England, he has to navigate through the devastation of failed crops and poverty - only to find out that the Phoenix's heir is a timid woman known by the name of Leila Grey.
She's weak and is in need of major training to build her strength up. Otherwise, how else will her Phoenix powers develop within the boundaries of Hell?
Disappointed, Fraed realises that this will be no quick assassination. He will have to train and feed her like a farmer would to their lamb, as well as secretly planning her murder on the side. With a façade to uphold - the assassin simply can't afford mistakes.
