When Steve is transformed into Captain America, Brandt purposely puts Kara on his detail. Making sure she is with him at all times-well almost all times-and that she trains him to fight.

It's a long haul as the War Bonds tour pushes forward. Even longer as Steve comes to terms with all of her secrets and she begins to seek him out.

It's even longer when her secrets start to come to life and reach out in desperate attempts to kill what little hope she has left.

"You've never told me about that?"

It was leading and they both knew it. Steve hoped she'd follow it even just for a moment.

"I do that on purpose. I don't want you to go digging about it," she nudged his side as she said it. Steve rolled his eyes and looped an arm around her shoulders. "The people that raised me...they aren't good people, Steve. They have and they will kill anyone that they think is a threat."

"Oh? Does that mean-are you in danger?" He turned to her sharply, scanning over her face worriedly. Steve's fingers tightened on her shoulder, digging in to the point of bruising.

"They think I'm dead so, no, not really in danger."
