Juniper spent her final teenage years alongside L in the orphanage. There, the two grew close and developed a bond unlike any other; they understand each other perfectly. Although they seem like opposites on the outside, if you pay attention, you can see their brains are wired the same. After a pause of not seeing each other, Juniper is invited to use her skills on the Kira case. What could be in the cards for these two orphans?

It flips back and forth between the present-day Kira Investigation and old memories of Juniper's. You see her hardships and excitements due to her autism, you see her attempting to bond with new friends, as well as her psychological analysis skills she uses to assist with the case in the modern day; then you explore a mix of her childhood wonder, grieving a loss along with origins of her trauma, and of course the beginnings of her and L's friendship, the pure enjoyment they had with one another.
This story is meant to provide an autistic perspective to a reader-insert style of story, and highlight the goods and difficulties with autism as well as the joys and understanding that come with a neurodivergent friendship. The story does touch on more sensitive subjects, like taking medications(as prescribed), death of a loved one(su*c*de), meltdowns, overstimulation, and ableism. Still, they are done professionally for the purpose of education and awareness, and not romanticism. It's also a mix of a vent on occasion, typically in a "wanting comfort" type of deal, but those won't be as common.
Read to see more of Juniper and L's story, to see their growth, and of course, to see my (slight) spin on the Death Note story :)
