Lucille "Lucy" Opal Baker might be the unluckiest person on the planet, alongside James "Bucky" Barnes.  Knowing nothing but her base programming and conditioning, Lucy- who is more Verfall than herself- wakes from cryostasis in the hands of SHIELD. Verfall doesn't understand anything until she starts to.

And it chills her entire soul.

After a few months attempting to be a person with the help of SHIELD that isn't actually SHIELD, an extraterrestrial known as Loki of Asgard touches down on Earth and takes Schmidt's prior power source- the tesseract. Threatening to trample over humans like a boot to an ant, Verfall reluctantly joins a team of enhanced- the Avengers.  

Which poses a problem- Steve Rogers is set on integrating her back into society.

When Verfall realizes Steve is alive, she wonders if he might be the key to unlock James from the cage of Winter. With the help of Loki, she finds herself learning the true extent of her abilities and, well-

Verfall finally formulates a plan, and it is a glorious one.

Scott (Antman) is under house arrest... at the tower. Wanda (Scarlet Witch) is still mourning her brother while nurturing a still very naive Vision. (Neither are living in the tower. Will only play small, fleeting parts in this story.) Dr Strange refuses to move into the tower. After all, it is more important to keep up with his work at the Sanctum. Peter (Spiderman) is spending his summer at the Tower, much to the dismay of Aunt May, who knows how dangerous this is, but does not know Loki has returned. Sam (Falcon) will follow Cap to the ends of the earth, but refuses to jump off the proverbial bridge just because Cap's doing it. Bucky (Winter Soldier) is trying to atone for his past misdeeds, while learning what exactly they were, but is living in Wakanda with T-challa (Black Panther) so neither will be playing a large role in this story. Then there's Aite. She's new. She's the Greek goddess of mischief, delusion, folly, and ruin. You'd think her and Loki would be the best of friends... Not so much.
