This is not about me. Or my life. This is about me, trying to get my life in the direction I want it to go. 'How to be a you' is a project I wanted to start because of my own experiences, something I wanted to share. And I said it wasn't about me... I want to help people who make the same mistakes I made, or people who feel the same way. Has life taken away your hope? Is it hard to love yourself? That's what we all go through. But it's something I want to help with.

I was lonely. After losing the one person that felt so important to you, you don't want to risk to lose another one, so you tend to push everybody away. That way, it'd be easier not to be hurt or to hurt anyone again. I had decided to live alone, and I honestly don't think I regret it. I've been very depressed and heartbroken so, what better than to create a story out of it? "This is my life" details a protagonist going through her teenage years up until the age of 21. Through love, friendship, grief, and heartbreak, you will get to witness what it's like being a young black girl trying to conquer the world. I hope anyone going through either heartbreak, grief, insecurities, mental health declines are able to read this and know that they're not alone! Life can be so ugly at times, but I promise things always get better. Not your typical romance or teen fiction book!
