Tacitus is the last of the Guard. The rest died out after The Shattering, over one hundred years ago. Now he faces his first test, a deadly plague sweeping his home of Venga Montibus. Together with Queen Nera he must find the cure on the treacherous mainland if he is to save the only family he's ever known.
